Better Day

**Funny Update** We were able to share with mom tonight some of the funny things she said to the nurses. She was mortified at some of them, and laughed at others. She wants me to stay with her when she goes to a regular room. She is starting to get sad when visiting hours are over.
Prayer Requests: Her voice is still not back. Her vocal cords are paralyzed. I did a little online research about that, and it can correct itself, but if it doesn't, then they may do surgery to fix it. I know, I know, I shouldn't be doing online research. Also, while we were in there last time, she made 2 statements that we didn't really understand. She said she was scared. She didn't explain why. She also said she "Didn't understand", but again, didn't elaborate. Just pray that she will have calmness of spirit tonight as she rests. The ICU psychosis is still present, but it's getting much better!! Keep Praying!!

The morning started kinda bleak. They decided that mom had to stay in the ICU another day. She was retaining a lot of fluid, which they say is pretty normal (everything is normal, it seems). She also has fluid in her lungs that they were concerned about. She isn't able to cough very well because her chest hurts and she is pretty weak.
We went in for an afternoon visit and she was much more alert. She talked to us for around 15 minutes, and then said she was tired. It made me feel so much better to see her more alert. We're really hoping she can move to "stepdown" tomorrow. It will be more restful for her to be there. Thank you for all your prayers and concerns. We feel them and appreciate them.
Thanks to all my "Wichita Falls" friends who are taking care of Brian and the girls during this time. He appreciates all the offers of help....I do too!!

Despite the "normalcy" of everything, I'm glad to hear they're taking precautions to watch her closely in the ICU. That said, we are praying that your mom is well enough (and that the doctors are confident enough) to move to a place where she can rest better. Thanks for continuing the updates! Love you!

Hi Jennifer
Thanks for posting the blog information about your mother. My mother went through a long ICU admission and long recovery 4 years ago and I know that your daughter's heart is heavy. I remember all that vividly. So, I am praying for you as much as for your parents. Above all that you will sense the perfect peace of God that He has promised when we trust Him implicitly and that He will give you His strength hour by hour....because that is just how life is at these seasons....minute by minute, even. Love you in Him, Linda Hammons, MTM

Good morning Jennifer. Just a quick note to say "howdy" and let you know I will continue to keep your mom in my prayers. God has been so faithful in seeing that your mom got the medical attention she needed to correct this problem, He saw her safely through surgery, so you know He will see her (and your family!) through this time of recovery. I know this is exhausting for all of you but be assured He will provide.
Keep up the updates.
Love,
Rebecca

Jennifer, thanks for keeping us informed on your mother's progress - we are praying and wishing she were not so far away - so that we could visit once she got in a 'regular' room, Linda Weaver

Hi Jenn,

We have been praying for Linda every day! She was put on Sun & Shield's prayer chain the day of the surgery, and our people are updated about her every service. Amber located your blog so we could get her status right away. Thank you so much for keeping us informed about my dearest friend. I so wish I was there to help take care of Oma while Joe takes care of Linda. As for Linda, we could just look into each other's eyes and know the heart of the other. Plus, I would fixd her hair every day and give her Pepsi through her tubes!:) We love you all so much and are keeping the whole family (and her doctors) in our prayers. I believe with all my heart that God is going to bring her through this, and she will testify to others of His goodness, mercy, and grace! Love to all - Debbie Morris and Sun & Shield Baptist Church -AZ
