Well.....we had three Drs consult with each other and decide that they would rather mom heal on her own. That's good...I guess, because that means she won't have another surgery. However (comma) that also means that in 48-72 hours, we could back to square one and she may have to have surgery anyway.
They put in a PICC line (which you can read all about here) for her nutrition, fluids, antibiotics and other medicines. This was not a pleasant experience, I don't think. But, since she's had so many IV's and since they only last three days, they decided this would be a better solution.
So, she stays up there for "2 or 3 days" and see if she's healed. She eats and drinks and if she contains everything, she's good and can go home. If she starts leaking again, they'll have to do the surgery anyway.
We'll keep you updated! Pray for dad...he's still not feeling well. At least he's close to home this time.
