I was just telling someone the other day that I thought it had been an unusually warm winter. It was 85 degrees last week. Well, yesterday and today have been terrible. It has sleeted (is that a word?) and snowed on and off all day.
We have a fairly sloped drive way. Sarah and I came up with the grand idea of letting the kids slide down the icy driveway. It was lot of fun.....until......we ended up in the Emergency Room. In one brave slide down the hill....standing....on a snowboard, Emily and her brave knight in shining armour, Mason...well....bit the concrete. Except Emily bit more than the concrete....she bit her lip.....clean through her lip. We vacillated back and forth for about an hour with various nurses and even a Dr on call, and decided to take her to the hospital. We thought it was on the brink of needing stitches, but turns out it really needed them, so I'm glad we decided to take her. When I say we, I mean Sarah and I. I took my "lived in Alaska for YEARS" driving friend with me. Anyway, Emily needed 6 stitches total. Three on the outside and three on the inside. She was SO brave. I didn't take my camera to the ER with me. grr...one of these days, I'm going to be better about that. Here are some pictures of the fun times, and the not so fun results.

What a brave girl!! I would probably still be crying even after the stitches were in, but not Emily. She's even smiling as she shows off her stitches to the camera. What a girl!
At least it looks like they had fun sledding in the driveway!
OUCH!! Poor Emily!! Give that lip a kiss for me!
Tell Brian we said Congrats on the coin, that's great!! Especially since it was the people he actually works with that nominated him for it, those are the ones that mean the most!!!
