Disney Day 2--Epcot

On day 2, the weather was much more cooperative. It was sunny...but COLD!!! We headed out early that morning for Epcot. It is one of mine and Brian's favorite parks, but we like it for the culture stuff that you see in the World Showcase. I thought the kids might be a little bored. We headed out and the first thing we did when we got there was head to a store to buy a blanket for my poor babies. We found a store that had a souvenir blanket that you could get for only $15 if you bought $40 worth of other merchandise. Hmm...shouldn't be too hard. Emily got herself a stuffed Lady (from Lady and the Tramp) and my mom got the cutest purse you've ever seen. So, tucked warmly in the stroller under a blanket, we set off. The first thing we did was Space Earth. It's the ride that goes up into 'the big golf ball'. It takes you through how people have developed electronics and stuff over time. When you get to the top, there is an amazing ceiling wide view of space and the earth. It's gorgeous! Then, on the way down, you view stars. It's just beautiful. It was one of Emily's favorite rides. Savannah wasn't a fan of the dark, but I had bought the girls little pen light things, and that light was like her security blanket. If she got scared, she just turned it on. It was cute.

Then we went to Nemo and Turtle Talk With Crush. That is the coolest thing. It's Crush from Nemo, and they have it computer generated, but a guy is behind the screen actually responding to the audience. He called on Emily to talk to him. It was the cutest thing. By far, Turtle Talk was the best thing we saw that day.

Oh, Epcot was also the place where we got to stand in ONE line and see Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Pluto all at the same time. That was nice. The line was long, but huge flat panel TV's showing cartoons were strategically placed...gotta love Disney.

We left that afternoon for a long rest time, because we had plans to go back to Magic Kingdom that night to watch the parade and fireworks. The parade was at 9, and the fireworks at 10, so I knew the girls had to have a nap. With the crowds, I figured we wouldn't make it home till around midnight, and I was correct. We got to Magic Kingdom at 7 to secure our spot for the parade, and it was already PACKED! We got an awesome spot, and sat there for 2 hours...in the cold...yeah, maybe we're a little crazy, but it was worth it. We were sitting on the curb right by the parade route, and got to interact with the characters in the parade. Snow White actually shook Savannah's hand, and I thought she was going to wet herself. She was SO excited, and she's still talking about it. THAT makes it all worthwhile to this mom.

The fireworks were amazing, although Savannah again, wasn't a fan. She is very different from Emily. When Emily was scared by something the first time we went to Disney, she screamed and cried until she was removed from the situation. If Vannah is scared, 9 times out of 10, we didn't know it. All of a sudden we would look over at her and she would have her hands over her eyes. She never cried or whimpered, just covered her eyes. During the fireworks, I saw her hands over her eyes. So, I put her on my mom's lap, and she buried her face in my mom's shoulder. She was so bundled, I was scared that she couldn't breathe, so I kept saying, "Are you ok?" and she would say, "Yeah, I'm ok...is it over yet?" Afterwards, she said, "That was awesome!" ha ha
It was a great day...we didn't get to see the World Showcase at Epcot on this day, but we went back. The girls had so much fun. The adults were tired! We decided to sleep in the next morning and just take things slow.....more on that later!

Whew, two days down!

I love the faces of the girls when they're with the characters. Savannah was SO excited to meet Minnie.

This is what your face starts to do when you've been asked to pose for pictures 1000 times in an hour.

Watching the parade and the fireworks.
