Sticky Situations!

We had so much fun tonight making caramel apples and popcorn balls with the girls. We turned off the porch light and shut our door to the trick or treaters and had a BLAST in our kitchen. It was a lot of fun!! It was very, very sticky.

Sorting the popcorn! No kernels!!

The popcorn would attach itself to something and not let go!!

Even Daddy had fun!

Happy Birthday Emily

No, you're not confused with dates. Today is Emily's 1 year Spiritual Birthday. Last year, she came out from her bedroom and said, "Mommy, I just got saved!" Brian had been putting her to bed, and she asked Jesus to come live in her heart. As a parent, all these thoughts go through your mind, "Does she really know what she's doing?" "Does she understand everything?" "Is this for real?" Only the Holy Spirit can show you these things over time. We know for sure that Emily knew what she was doing and understands. Her heart is so tender towards the things of the Lord. I'm so thankful that she accepted the Lord at an early age and can spend the remainder of her time on earth living for HIM!

This is what she narrated to me to write in her Bible last year.

On Tuesday, October 30, 2007 I was forgiven of my sin. I asked Jesus to wash all my sins away. I want to go to Heaven. I asked Jesus to live in my heart. I asked Him to control me!

PRAISE GOD!

Two Girls, One Bear

HELP ME you Internet savvy people!! I have a little bear named Snowball. Hi Snowball! My problem is that he belongs to my eldest. However, my youngest wants him so badly!! I have looked at Beanie Baby websites, Build a Bear websites and Ebay until I'm blue in the face. The tag is so worn that I can't see anything on it. I have no idea where we got it!! I have tried to buy something that was similar, and it didn't fly. I know you mom's have had this experience with your kids! It is white and fuzzy and the body feels.....beanie. If any of you can find this on a website, I would be forever indebted to you!!!

SO Thankful

I was putting the girls to bed tonight, and while I was waiting for Emily to finish brushing her teeth, I was laying with Savannah in her bed. As my little blond haired, blue eyed girl laid there and blinked at me with sleepy eyes, several thoughts crossed my mind.
Number one, I prayed for 2 years for this little girl. I fell on my knees in agony time after time when I realized I wasn't pregnant. I didn't understand why I couldn't have the child I so desperately wanted.
But, in God's timing, HE brought me the most beautiful, wonderful, funny, animated little girl possible.

The other thought that I had, crossed my mind as I heard our heater kick on. I am so fortunate...no, blessed to have a warm house to sleep in at night. Not only a warm house, but warm, clean pajamas for my girls to sleep in.....in nice, cozy, comfortable, warm beds. How many moms are having to do whatever they can to keep their poor babies warm tonight?

We are so blessed, people. God has given us so much! Next time you sit in the drive through at Starbucks (yes, I'm talking to myself), next time you pull that blanket up around your shoulders at night, next time you feed your kids their bedtime snack, take a minute and thank the Lord for all you have.

Just Some Cute Pics From Home

I forgot about some cute pictures I got of the girls while we were at my mom and dad's.

It was so cold outside...even on the deck! Savannah was determined to swing, so we wrapped her up!

Awww....morning's at Me-me's house.

Yes, Savannah has the pacifier in her mouth in the first picture. We are working on that. When Emily turned one, she was only allowed to have her paci in her bed and when she was truly truly tired and upset. Well, the same rule applies for Van....sorta. It's just that she is truly truly upset a LOT of the time. :o) OK....OK....lame....we're working on it. As of Sunday, she must surrender her pacifiers as soon as she gets out of bed. It breaks my heart, but I know it's something that has to be done.

Doctor's Conclusion

Miraculously, I got the girls back to back appointments this morning with their Doctor. She walked in and said, "Oh my!!"

So, both girls are on antibiotics for their skin, and Emily for her throat. Staph and Strep. The two S-words that you don't want to hear at the Doctor's office.

I made homemade chicken soup...the cure for all that ails you, right? Yeah, if you eat it. Emily and I think it's so yummy, Savannah was NOT impressed. But, she's not really an eater anyway, so what does she know?? Hmph.

Their doctor also upped Savannah's dose of anti-itch medicine, and put Emily on the same stuff. I gave Emily her dose and within 30 minutes, she was passed out at her desk. So much for school for today.

Sigh....and so the winter season begins.

Sunday Pictures

OK, here's my attempt at getting back into the "blog" swing. I haven't put any pictures of them in their Sunday finest in a while. :o)

It was cooler this morning, but not cool enough for winter clothes, yet. The girls were pretty excited to be going to church together at their church! Well, Emily was excited about Sunday School, anyway. I'm sure she chattered her way through it. Ms. Elaine was very nice about saying how "excited she was to be back." ha ha
Both of the girls have really bad breakouts with their eczema since going back east. There is something growing out there this time of year that tore them UP! You can see the big red mark on Emily's right arm and all over her legs. Savannah's eyes are the worst breakout she has. I'm going to try to get them an appointment tomorrow to see if there is something I can give them for their itching. No, Benedryl doesn't work, but thanks for the suggestion. :o) I have creams for Vannah, but I'm scared to put things around her eyes. I think she may have a small infection under her left eye. Here is a picture of her looking sad. Pardon the "previously styled for Sunday" hair.

In other news, the Lord provided winter clothes for my girls over the weekend. I appreciate those that HE used (you know who you are). Also, Emily got her first pair of "tie" shoes. Yes, she's almost 6, but I'm lazy and want things done quickly. Needless to say, it took her one try to get it right, and she keeps putting them on to practice.

So, it's back to the grind tomorrow. We have to get back to school and piano practice before her piano teacher thinks we've quit for real! :o) It was SO good to be in the house of the Lord today. I've missed our preacher, our people, and all my friends!!!

If Anything Can Go Wrong.....

You can finish the saying, right?? Let's just say our trip home wasn't as easy as our trip out there.
I left Monday around 11, and it was sad, and everyone cried. Pretty typical for my family. :o) I had such a good time with my mom and dad. They keep saying thank you to me for coming, but I loved being there!! I got to Sarah's mom's house around 5 or so. We had an incredible dinner and started loading up the car. Sarah and I both, had accumulated about twice as much as we came with. Books, clothes (I had to buy winter clothes while I was there), pumpkins, grains and mince meat (don't ask). Anyway, we got it all in the car, and still had room for the kids...much to Granny's chagrin.
We got up early Tuesday morning and hit the road. Bradey was coughing a little bit, but no fever, no problem, right? We had a wonderful lunch with Therese, Callie and Kyle Cooper. They were stationed here and PCS'd about 2 years ago. We arrived at out hotel around 2:30 and that's when things started going downhill.

First of all, the bathroom was filthy. We'll just leave it at that. Housekeeping came...problem solved. Turned on the air, it smelled like fish factory...turned it off, and opened the windows. We found a Coldstone and had ice cream on the University of Alabama's campus. Went to Wal-Mart with 4 children who couldn't decide what to eat, and who didn't want to be at Wal-Mart. We came back to the hotel and tried to get organized (one of the things I loved about traveling with Sarah is that we both want to organize the car and the room as soon as we get there). We finally got the kids settled down, thanks to Mason reading to the younger ones. Savannah actually fell asleep in a pack-n-play with me and Emily in the same room watching TV, something I never thought possible, and Emily fell asleep. OK, whew. About 2:30, Bradey started coughing so bad, I was hurting. I knew his throat had to be so raw. Sarah gave him a breathing treatment, but it didn't seem to help. We contemplated getting the kids up and getting home as soon as we could, but thankfully, our reason won out on that one.

So, the next morning, we get up, eat breakfast, get a 10% discount on our hotel room, and hit the road again. We stopped at Crackerbarrel to eat, and I promise our waitress was on something. She would look at us for about 5 seconds after we stopped talking, and then respond. Trust me, 5 seconds is a long time when someone is just staring at you. Our food was just so-so, and Savannah refused to eat one morsel. On top of all that, it was the most expensive meal of the trip, for some reason. Anyway, back on the road. Shreveport, LA, here we come.

We tried to find out if Barksdale Air Force Base had an emergency room as Bradey was sounding worse and worse. They didn't. Sarah called and got authorization to take him to the ER, but decided she didn't want to have him seen until we got home. OK, here's where it gets good.

We check in. Go to our room, and it is TINY. I can't even tell you how small it was. It has one full size bed (full size....not queen, double or anything else. We're talking about 6 more inches than a twin) and a pull out couch. We called the front desk and explained to them that we'd asked for a large suite. We were told that 2319 was the last room they had. Five minutes later, they called and said, that they had a bigger room, but it would cost us $2.50 more. Well, DUH! We go to this room that miraculously appeared and the only thing that was different was an oven and a table. The sleeping arrangements were the same...oh, except it had a pack-n-play. We decide to suck it up, and go to the commissary to get some food for the kids. We get back to the room, and I put the pizza in the oven, put the girls in the bathtub and start organizing. Sarah goes down stairs to get more stuff from the car. All of a sudden, I hear an EAR piercing beeping noise. I go out of the bathroom and the place is FILLED with smoke and the smoke detector is screeching like crazy. I quickly figure out that nothing is actually on fire, and turn off the oven. Yell for Mason to open the door and stand on the balcony (I knew if the poor guy had to stand in there with his asthma, we would be in trouble later). I yell for Emily to stay with Savannah in the tub, and run out to yell for Sarah, "I could use some help up here!!!"

I called the front desk - twice. OK, 25...yes, I said TWENTY FIVE minutes later, the fire department shows up. Yes, I said the fire department. He walked in, and jerked it out of the ceiling...wow, thanks. Mercifully, it stopped. The "motel" manager, Mr. Ed (I'm not kidding) meandered up and said, "Things going ok up here?" Come to find out the oven was covered in gunk from the previous tenants. The fireman were SO nice (even let me take their picture) and told the manager that we needed a different room. He said, "This is the last room we have!" Miraculously, 10 minutes later, we had a new room. Back to the small room, this time with no pack-n-play. I called Mr. Ed again, and asked for a roll away, a cot or something! He called back in 5 minutes, and said he could give us blankets and sheets, but our kids were going to have to sleep on the floor. I called my parents, and they said, "NO WAY". My very kind, compassionate parents said to look for a hotel off base. I called the front desk and told them we didn't need their blankets and sheets, my kids were not sleeping on the floor and I would be down shortly to check out. We called 12...yes twelve hotels off base, and they were all full. Nothing....absolutely nothing. As Sarah was graciously offering to sleep on the floor, the front desk called and said they "found" another room that they thought would work for us. Where all these rooms are coming from, I have no idea. Anyway, it was right next door to the room we were currently in, and Mr. Ed met us there with the key. This room had a queen bed, a roll away bed, a pack-n-play, a pull out couch and a pull out chair. They just appeared out of nowhere!!

Oh, have I mentioned that it's now 7:45, and our kids haven't eaten? We microwaved them the sad frozen pizza that had been carried around for 3 hours. They thought it was good, so who are we to argue? Mason, Emily and Savannah were asleep within 5 minutes of being put to bed. Bradey was given some cough medicine and seemed to be resting, so we went to bed. About 2:00, Bradey woke up coughing worse than before. He would cough, retract, cough retract, stop breathing, and start the process over again. Sarah bundled him up and took him outside, but it didn't help. So, I called the front desk and asked for the closest ER. Sarah took Bradey to the emergency room in the middle of downtown Bossier City at 2:30 am. She is so brave. They were great. She left the room at 2:30 and was home by 3:45. They gave him steroids and he was a new person. They determined he had an asthma attack brought on by croup.

We left Barksdale (hopefully never to return) this morning and arrived home at 2:45 this afternoon. We are so thankful to be home and praise the Lord for His goodness to us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sarah and Tim for their willingness to help me out. I would also like to thank Brian for his understanding in my need to go. We were gone for 3 weeks, and I know it was hard on our husbands to be alone for that long. Here are some pics to go with the story. Sorry it's so long, but it needed to be logged in my "memory bank".
Here are all the kids at our first hotel. They loved staying at different places.
Sarah took all the kids to a grassy area to run off some energy while I filled the car up with gas.
We found a grassy knoll for the kids to eat some healthy food for dinner. WHY can't you find healthy food along the interstate?
Here are our kids with Kyle and Callie Cooper.
Therese, Kyle and Callie Cooper.
"Sason" was Savannah's babysitter the whole trip!!
Here are the kids with the firemen that yanked our smoke detector out of the ceiling.
Here's Mason eating microwaved frozen pizza.

The kids finally settling down after the "ordeal".

Update From Us

A popular question I'm getting is, "When are you coming home??" I get it wearily from my husband and warily from my parents. I think we've made a decision. I'm going to leave here Monday afternoon, and arrive to Sarah's mom's that evening where we'll load up the car, and head out Tuesday morning. We had talked about stopping in Atlanta at the World of Coke museum and then driving some more. But, then we considered, "Do we give 4 children 60 different flavors of coke and then put them back in the car?" Hmm, maybe not. PLUS, the museum only offers discounts to the active duty MEMBER, not their dependents. Hmph.

Anyway, I wanted to be home for Emily's Thursday piano lesson, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen (Liesl, did you get that?). I've already missed one, and I hate to miss another, but she has years of lessons ahead of her. SO, I guess we'll be home sometime Thursday evening.

We've been incredibly busy here. The first week, I spent cleaning, organizing, laundering, and cooking. My poor dad had bills stacked so high on his desk he didn't even know where to start! He knew he was in trouble when his desk calendar still said August. He needed to eat too! He had lost over 10 pounds and didn't even know it! I took a "rest" over the weekend at my mom's insistence, and it seems like I can't get caught up since!! My dad and I cleaned the deck to try to get rid of some of the allergens that have been bothering the girls. Their skin is pretty broken out, but Emily's only had to use her inhaler once, so that's good!! Emily has been helping me clean. :o)

Emily got to go to a ceramic place today and paint some projects with my friend Keren. Keren is a very talented artist, and she enjoys Emily's enthusiasm for art. Thank you,Keren! It was so sweet of you to spend your day off with her!! I enjoyed the quiet house. :o)

Mom went to her primary care doctor today for a check up. He was very pleased with the way her wound looked, and how under control her diabetes is. He was able to take her off of some meds, and change some meds that had been giving her fits. So, things are going well. She is up moving around more, and able to do some things around the house. I feel confident in leaving her this time. I worry about my dad, but hopefully he can handle it all. :o)

I guess that's about it. Sarah and I are going to stop in Alabama and see some friends from Messiah (the Coopers). I'm hoping we can have lunch with them. We are going to take the trip home a little more slowly than the trip here. The kids miss their daddies, and me and Sarah do too. They miss us a LOT! :o) Hope you all are having a good week!! It's almost the weekend!! Yay!

Interesting

I'm the first to admit that I have one of those "trite blogs". I never have anything deep, controversial, or probably interesting to say on here. It's mostly pictures for my family and friends. What I'm about to say isn't less than trite, but it's interesting.

The first thing was a church billboard sign that I saw on the way home. It was Ecclesiastes 10:2

A wise man's heart directs him toward the right, but the foolish man's heart directs him toward the left.

Hm!! That's funny. No, I haven't read it in context, but first verse in itself is pointed. :o)

The other thing is in Proverbs. You know how the slogan for Obama is change? Change we can believe in, change we need, change we won't define...blah blah. Well, how does this Proverb describe change?

Proverbs 24:19, 21-22

Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked: My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change: For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

If I were Obama or Biden, I would be worried. :o)

PLEASE don't leave comments about the evils of McCain. I'm not interested in politics. I think they are lame. I know that God is on the throne and nothing will happen that will surprise HIM. I just thought the verses were amusing when linking them to political things.

Pray For Zoe

I know from personal experience that you all that read my blog are incredible prayer warriors. I have a little baby girl that I'd like you to pray for. Her name is Zoe. I went to high school with her daddy, and I know her extended family from church. The best way to pray effectively is to read her story. Also, pray for her parents, Jonathan and Sarah. I'm sure they have LONG hours to be with their baby, and need rest to protect themselves from getting sick. Here's her story.

http://www.treasureinafield.com/Welcome.html

Go to the journal and click on Zoe's Arrival. Then just keep clicking next. Thanks for the prayers!!

Update From The Home Front

This will probably be the last update that I will post from my dad. The main prayer request now is just for mom to gain strength. If you want updates on mom and the ministry, be sure to send your e-mail address to my dad. He supplied the address at the bottom of the update. I can't tell you how much of an encouragement all of you have been to me. To see the comments from my close friends, and blog friends have been amazing and encouraging. I love you all!!

These two days at home have been fine for Linda. She is eating, drinking and Praising the Lord to be HOME. There have been some adjustments but her wound is looking good and healing nicely. It does hurt but nothing like having a surgery wound. The home health nurse changed the dressing yesterday and I changed it today. She has very little drainage and hardly any redness around the wound. It's just going to take time and the Lord's hand upon her for complete recovery.

Jennifer has been a BIG help to us. Having the laughter of our GRAND-girls, Emily and Savannah, around the house has been good therapy and a joy for Linda. We sure appreciate Jennifer and Brian taking time out of their lives and making a way for Jennifer to come by our sides during this time of need.

Today I began to wade through the pile of paperwork on my desk. I knew I was in trouble when I looked at my calendar above my desk and it was still showing August. I found mail that was received in August and if yours was one of those letters, I'm sorry for getting behind.

Our pastor and wife brought in a nice meal Monday and our pastor and one of the men from the church cut the grass for me. We sure do appreciate all the support we have received from our 2 supporting churches here in Goldsboro. We want ALL of you to know how much we appreciate your prayers and words of encouragement during this time of sickness. Thank you for bringing us often before the Throne of Grace.

If you would like to keep receiving e-mail updates on Linda as well as the ministry, and you are not already on my e-mail list, please e-mail me at this address.

jyeargin@missionstomilitary.org

I will continue to use email for prayer requests and keeping in touch. Soon I hope to have some updated news pertaining to the ministry as we get back to the job God has called us to do.

Keep Looking Up,

Joe

I'm Home!!

Well, as I type this, dad is typing an update about mom, so I'll let him do that while I type an update about our trip out here.

Sarah and I, and the 4 kids (for those of you who don't know, we're talking, Emily (5), Savannah (2), Mason (8) and Bradey (4) ) left Friday morning at 6 am headed to North Carolina. The first day was amazing! My girls haven't been on a road trip longer than 6 hours in over 3 years (and it doesn't take a mathematician to figure out that was only Emily), so I was really nervous. We traveled 500 miles in 9 hours, the kids were incredible. There is no other word to describe how they were. We got to our hotel at 3:30, ate a light dinner, had the kids in bed by 6:30 and Sarah and I were asleep by 8:00.

The second day, we got a little later start. We figured, Eh...we got here so early and we only have 72 more miles to do today than we did yesterday. Oops, we forgot we lost an hour in there somewhere. Anyway, we left at 8:30 and didn't arrive at Sarah's mom's in Greenville, SC until around 7:30. The kids were still SO good!! The snacks we had brought were losing their appeal, and the movie selection had become boring. But still, there was no arguing, and they were just SO good. Even Savannah would only kick my seat briefly towards the end of the day. Our biggest obstacle was for Sarah and I who are slightly neurotic about having at least one HEALTHY meal for our kids a day. Healthy foods are hard to find on a road trip. You want a cause?? Take up THAT one!!!

Today, I drove the final 323 miles by myself. It was just me and the girls, and let me tell you, that is NOT as much fun. There was no one to retrieve pacifiers and fill snack cups and entertain, but they did so well. It is nice to be here with my parents. Pray that my girls and I can be an encouragement to my parents and not a strain.

I have cool pictures from the trip, but I'll post those another time. Maybe I'll wait until I get home. We plan on making a few "homeschool" field trips on the way home. I thank the Lord that HE laid it on my heart to homeschool Emily this year. I would not be able to help my parents like I am if she were in school. Mom is VERY excited to watch her do her schooling tomorrow!

OK, here's dad's update.

Yesterday was a BLESSED DAY but today was a HALLELUJAH DAY!!

Linda is home!! Not only home, but she is able to swallow well enough to drink clear liquids. PRAISE THE LORD!! For the first time since August 19th, she was able to enjoy a cup of cool water. We give God the Praise for the healing of her vocal cord.

The "plan" was finalized this morning with the swallowing evaluation. Linda drank and ate everything the speech therapist gave her – WITHOUT CHOKING!! The wound nurse came in to change the dressing and there was only a small amount of drainage. The doctor couldn't give us a reason for her to stay, so he said, "YOU CAN GO HOME." We were able to leave the hospital at 4:25 PM. (I noted the exact time)

The icing on the cake was the arrival of Jennifer, Emily and Savannah. They were able to visit Linda in the hospital before she was discharged. Thank you for praying for their travel safety. Jennifer is willing to stay with us as long as she is needed. We'll probably keep her until Savannah graduates from college, at least. By then we will be old enough for her to take care of us on a daily basis.

Well, it has been a GLORIOUS DAY and we give God the Praise for all He did to bring Linda home again. Thank you for bringing us before the Throne of Grace. Continue to pray for Linda's strength. Being in bed for so long has taken a heavy toll on her body. We hope to resume physical therapy this week.

Keep Looking Up,

Joe

Update

This is Brian. Weird huh? I have been given charge of doing the updates for Linda while Jenn is traveling. She is on her way to Greenville, SC as I type this. Joe has sent an update and here it is. Mind you it is from Friday.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 3, 2008

I know many are wondering: "How did Linda's surgery go?" Well, she didn't have surgery. "NOT NEEDED," said the surgeon.
"PRAISE THE LORD," said Linda and me.
She was taken to surgery at the scheduled time this morning and he looked at the wound, cancelled the surgery and sent her back to the room. We can only thank our merciful, loving, grace giving God for allowing the wound to be healed to a point that surgery was not necessary. We believe your prayers were answered today!!

The surgeon presented his plan,
Operate! Was his command.

As God's servants were on their knees,
Our loving God heard their pleas.

Back to your room, you don't need me,
Bring the next patient for me to see.

God's child felt the Master's Hand,
And today surgery was not in His plan.

Late this afternoon her medical doctor finally visited our room and we pressed him for a plan to get out of here. Here is the short version of "the plan" for the week-end:
Today she was taken off all antibiotics.
The NG tube will be removed, maybe tomorrow. (Saturday)
She will be seen by a speech therapist to determine the ability of her swallowing.
Eating of solid food will be slowly introduced as determined by the speech therapist.
If all the above goes well, she will be allowed to go home Monday or Tuesday.
The doctor wants to be sure she is eating and her bowels are functioning before she goes home. We are ready to "check out" of this place.

Jennifer called from Vicksburg Mississippi where they stopped to spend the night. They have a long drive ahead of them tomorrow as their goal is to arrive in Greenville, South Carolina. Continue to pray for them over the week-end. She said the kids did pretty well with the trip today.

I don't know why I have gotten so caught up with numbers lately. But I was thinking today of a Bible verse to go along with Linda's room number – 2 3 6. I came up with Psalm 23:6: "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:" This has been a precious Truth during the past 11 days in this room.

Thank you for praying today and thank you for praying tomorrow.

Keep Looking Up,

Joe

Another Update

Due to several matters of Linda’s health, her surgery was postponed until Friday, now scheduled for 11:35 AM.

I won’t go into all the details of these events because they are too complicated. All the tests and blood work that was done yesterday showed up OK. The wound itself looks much, much better and the drainage has stopped again. I questioned if surgery is really necessary but the doctor is concerned that infection might be trapped in the cavity area where the G-tube had lodged when it came out of her stomach.

Please pray for our daughter, Jennifer, and one of her close friends as they TRAVEL with their children this week-end headed toward Goldsboro. Jennifer has wrestled with coming home to be helpful from the beginning of this latest hospital stay. Yesterday, Linda asked her to come home and that request sealed the decision. They leave Friday morning and Jennifer plans to arrive in Goldsboro Sunday. Her friend will stay in Greenville SC to visit her mom. I know Jennifer and the girls being here will be a great encouragement to Linda, plus a LOT of help to me. Linda has said from the very beginning of her sickness that she really misses having family close by to help. Jennifer plans to stay as long as she is needed.

Several have asked about the financial side of all the hospital cost, etc. Linda turned 65 in June and is covered by Medicare. She also has a supplemental insurance policy that covers expenses not covered by Medicare and the deductibles of Medicare. We haven’t been billed for anything so far. The Lord has provided through several sources extra money to cover other expenses, for which I am very grateful. Jennifer’s expenses to travel home are going to be around $1000.00 and I plan to provide this for her. If any would like to assist in this way it would be appreciated.

Again, pray for Linda tomorrow morning. Before Wednesday’s surgery was postponed she was very upset and nervous. We know the Lord is in control but many times our flesh is so strong and past fears become more powerful that present faith. So, pray as she has yet another chance to experience God’s faithfulness and grace.

“……my grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness…”

Still Looking Up,

Joe

Another Surgery

**UPDATE** Well, I know you are all going to be shocked, but they've decided to postpone the surgery. Big Surprise, huh?? The reason is this. My mom is very swollen and they don't know why she is retaining so many fluids. They said it could be her heart. They are going to run some tests and see if they can figure it out. Anyway, the surgeon didn't want her having surgery while she is retaining so many fluids. On another note. My mom asked to talk to me, and asked me to come home. I heard dad denying in the background, but mom says she's never seen him this worn out. SO....we're still in the planning stage, but I may be on the road in a couple days. Pray for us......

Well, 13 days after having the tube removed and 10 days after being admitted to the hospital, the Dr's have finally decided that mom needs to have surgery to repair her stomach. We don't know an exact time of the surgery. Just that it will be this afternoon sometime.

Number 1, Mom is terrified. Please pray for her comfort. She is scared because of all the complications from the first surgery. I mean, this stomach thing would not have happened except for the complications from the first surgery.

Number 2, I keep saying that lightening can't strike twice, right? The vocal cord problem that happened during the first surgery was a 1 in every 1000 patients. SURELY that won't happen again. Not just after she got her voice back. Please please pray that her cords are not damaged again.

Number 3, pray that the dr's will be able to see how to repair the stomach and they can get everything put back together correctly the FIRST time.

Please pray for my mom and dad...they are discouraged, frustrated and tired. Pray for their strength, and for grace during this time.
